1812-1870
Charles Dickens was born near Portsmouth, England to a family of eight children. They were often in debt, and Charles father went to a debtor´s prison when he was young. He became a parlimentary writer at age 16, and became really successful at writing at age 24. His work was serialized in newspapers and magazines, gaining a broader readership for his work. Charles Dickens is thought by some to be the greatest writer of his time.
